With the Smart Meter program, your electric meter will be read remotely through communication towers. In the future, a number of new customer benefits will become available, including access to online energy usage information.
Some of the current Smart Meter customer benefits include:
- Gulf Power will be able to read meters automatically without having someone physically travel to each meter.
- This will reduce the number of times an employee will have to visit your location and reduce the number of trucks on the road, cutting emissions and saving fuel.
- Smart Meters increase the already high accuracy rate of readings to ensure that customer bills are correct - even those that are in remote hard-to-access locations.
- Smart Meters can be checked remotely to ensure they are working properly.
- The Smart Meter installations alleviate the need to add new meter-reading routes.
