Sunshine State One-Call
Sunshine State One-Call is a voluntary organization. Some owners of underground facilities have elected not to belong. Therefore, these owners are not notified by Call Sunshine.
Excavators must make an effort to contact these independent operators, directly, before attempting an excavation. Excavators are reminded not to begin excavation until all underground facilities have been marked.
Call Sunshine stands ready to assist excavators with any problems or answer questions they may have about the locating process. Note that corrections to an underground facilities location request (ticket) will only be accepted from callers working for the same company which originated the ticket. (In other words, a subcontractor may not change information on a ticket filed by the general contractor.) Call Sunshine records all conversations which pertain to the work location request and maintains a copy. These records are maintained for five years.
The one call center disseminates a booklet containing more detailed explanations of their underground facilities locating procedures and the complete text of the Florida Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act. Call the center to request a copy.
