"Whenever I complete the house, I give my clients a copy of the video and the brochure from Gulf Power on GoodCents Select," Barry says. "I like it so much I recommend it to every person I build a house for."

Barry jumped on the system after talking with Teresa Howard, a Gulf Power Marketing employee. His electricity bill immediately dropped as soon as he started on Select.

"I moved from a two-bedroom apartment into my three bedroom, two-bath house and my electric bills are the same, thanks to GoodCents Select," Barry says. "I like it so much I've talked my girlfriend into putting it in her house."

For Barry, he likes being aware of the different rates during the day and making an active decision on when to use electricity.

"It puts you in control of when you use your appliances." Barry says. "It's a very comprehensive program that covers all the bases from a water heater to the pool pump."

Plus, for Barry, it makes sense from an environmental point-of-view.

"If I conserve a little electricity, that means Gulf Power doesn't have to generate as much electricity, and maybe they don't have to build another generator," Barry says. "So, the program has a benefit for the environment as well."

With all the benefits, it's a program Barry doesn't have to sell to his clients.

"It gives the choice to the customer about their electricity," he says, "and that's good for them. I'd be doing them a disservice if I knew about a program that would save them money on their house and I didn't make them aware of that."
