Insulation

appliance header

When it comes to insulation, your home is a like a big envelope - seal it up right and everything will be fine. A well-insulated house is better able to reduce heat flow, keeping heat in during winter and out in summer. Considering that almost half of the home's energy dollar goes to heating and cooling, you can do a lot to lower your heating and cooling costs by raising your insulation to energy-efficiency standards.

If you currently have little or no insulation, adding insulation may be the most cost-effective energy improvement you can make, especially with Gulf Power's incentive of $0.15 per square foot, which became effective June 1, 2011.

  • Up to 40% of a home's heat loss takes place due to inadequate insulation. Insulation levels are specified by R-Value, which is a measure of insulation's ability to resist heat traveling through it. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating effectiveness.
