Environmental Action at Gulf Power

Every week for the next three years, Southern Company plans to invest an average of $29 million installing new environmental controls on our coal plants to further reduce emissions.

At Gulf Power, we have a history of working to provide reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible energy to our customers. Since 1992 we have reduced overall emissions 70 percent, and in 2010, increased those reductions even more when we added a scrubber to Plant Crist in Pensacola. The system is designed to remove:

• 95% sulfur dioxide emissions
• 70% particulate emissions
• 80% oxidized mercury
• 95% chlorides
