McDonald's
We're Cooking With Electricity
Since Ricky Murphy has been cooking with total electric equipment, only the food in the kitchen is hot. Murphy has installed all electric equipment in one of his four Savannah area McDonald's restaurants and is keeping the kitchen cool.
That's the answer McDonald's owner and operator, Ricky Murphy will give you when asked about the fuel of choice for his restaurants.
Murphy owns and operates four stores in the Savannah area as part of a 'family' business. The McDonald's restaurant at I-95 and Hwy 204 is the 'All Electric' superstar store.
Ricky says, "The all electric store stays much cooler. It's absolutely amazing, without a doubt." Ricky also reports that the cooking appliances throw less extra heat into the kitchen environment, operate cleaner, the grills are hotter and the fryers recover faster compared to gas models.
Murphy spends less to cool the restaurant and his employees have a cooler work environment as well as an additional benefit, the electric equipment is easier to operate than comparable gas models.
When asked about changing out gas equipment at his other stores, Ricky says he would favor electric when replacing equipment, and will specify electricity as the fuel of choice for all new stores.
Ricky also appreciates the high quality service he receives from Southern Company. Ricky says "No other utility gives such personal service or has an account manager that calls me up to ask how am I doing and is everything okay?" He feels the customer service aspect is important, because it makes it easier to do business and saves him time and resources as a business owner.
