What are the basics of a good warranty?

Most surge suppressor warranties are used as marketing tools. A warranty is no better than the company that offers the warranty. Better manufacturers offer replacement of the surge protector should it fail for any reason for a stated number of years. Many will also offer limited coverage for systems damaged when properly protected by the surge protector.
