Is it important for the surge protector to have a UL label?

We recommend that the surge protection chosen for an electrical supply be listed by UL under the UL 1449 listing. UL will provide the voltage that the surge protection device lets pass through under the UL test. Choose a surge protector with a UL listing less than 500 volts for a 120 volt application.
