HVAC & Ventilation

HIGH-EFFICIENCY COOLING, HEATING & VENTILATION SYSTEMS
Here in Northwest Florida, summer cooling and winter heating costs typically make up about 35% of a home's total energy bill. And, in some cases, a home's space conditioning costs can account for as much as 50% of the total utility bill. With a Gulf Power EarthCents Home, high-efficiency HVAC systems are "rightsized" to ensure they’re the best unit for the job — providing superior space conditioning and dehumidification at the lowest possible cost of operation.

Features:

  • High-efficiency air-to-air heat pumps and even higher-efficiency geothermal heat pump systems
  • Systems are "right-sized" according to accepted industry standards and local "design conditions" – no "rule-of-thumb" estimations allowed

Benefits:

  • Energy savings
  • Increased comfort
  • Superior dehumidification and indoor air quality

FRESH AIR VENTILATION
Because EarthCents Homes are so tightly built and energy-efficient, it may be necessary to provide minimal fresh air ventilation to the home to keep indoor air as healthy as possible. This ventilation should be achieved according to Standard 62.2-2007 of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). For EarthCents qualification, Gulf Power recommends "Supply Ventilation" as defined by sub-section B4.3 of the above standard's Appendix B.

Features:

  • HVAC-Coupled Ventilation – special duct draws fresh air from the outside in to the HVAC unit’s return air chamber where it is conditioned, dehumidified and mixed with indoor air for distribution throughout the home
  • Dedicated Ventilation – outside air is captured, pre-conditioned and dehumidified before it is dispersed throughout the house via a dedicated duct system

Benefits:

  • Improved indoor air quality and comfort
  • Less uncontrolled outside air infiltration
